My USB scanner went dead and I purchased a new model. I also purchased an Aukey 10 port USB 3.0 hub and I connect all my devices to the USB hub, no more to the NUC directly. Since then, I have had no issue, all my USB peripherals, including 3.0 USB HDD, are detected.This is a workaround to the issue discussed in this thread.
